THE NEXT GEN LEADERSHIP SERIES – ARE YOU THE NEXT BIG THING?

Friday 5th August, 2011

The Australian in partnership with Mercedes‐Benz is offering new creative talent the chance to get a head start in their chosen field. The Next Gen Leadership Series Mentoring Opportunity will match up‐andcoming talent in art, architecture, food and wine, technology, industrial design, style, travel and the performing arts with a chosen industry leader in their field.

Four industry leaders in each category have been profiled each month in The Australian’s WISH magazine as part of the Next Gen Leadership Series and the mentors will be chosen from this group. Visit www.theaustralian.com.au/nextgen for information on the Next Gen Leaders featured so far. Next Gen Leaders featured to date include Gareth Moody (fashion designer, Chronicles of Never), Kym Ellery (fashion designer), Nicky Tindall (special events manager, Hamilton Island), Lauren Murdoch (chef, Felix) and Charles Wilson (industrial designer).

The winner will receive a minimum of four hours with a Next Gen Leader, a profile piece in WISH Magazine, plus a screening of the winning entry on the specially designed Next Gen micro‐site along with being featured on The Australian’s home page at www.theaustralian.com.au

A short video is required to enter the mentoring opportunity to showcase the entrants work and to explain why they would benefit from having a mentor. To take advantage of this opportunity and for the full terms and conditions go to www.theaustralian.com.au/nextgen and follow the links; or go directly to the WISH Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wishmagazine

David Meagher, editor, WISH says, “This is a great opportunity for someone seeking a career in a creative industry to learn from a mentor in their chosen field who has already done the hard yards. We’ve asked for video entries because we want to see the passion people have for their work and to see the work as well. The videos don’t need to be Oscar‐worthy and won’t be judged on their cinematography. If you’ve got a smartphone or a webcam then you have everything you need to get started.”

A special video on the mentoring program can be viewed at http://video.theaustralian.com.au/2072569012/Next‐big‐thing

Entries are open until (AEST) 11:59pm, Friday 7th October 2011.
