The Monash Engineering Leadership Program is a three-year program, delivered by industry experts, that prepares engineering students to be leaders in their chosen engineering fields. The program, which focuses on all aspects of leadership, is designed to challenge, develop and engage you to help you become confident and articulate and ready to work in the industry.
Student intakes happen twice a year, firstly by invitation based on ATAR score and, secondly, at mid-year, through an open call for applications. Selection through this process is interview-based.
The program commences with a three-day induction, followed by 12 learning modules aimed at building participants' knowledge and experience, delivered over three years. It also includes career planning and industry site/office visits, to give you insight into the engineering world and help you connect with people in the industry.
Learning modules typically comprise two or three sessions, with the first generally focusing on providing information and the second being more interactive, allowing you to put learning into context. The final session often includes a panel discussion with representatives from industry.
Learning module topics include:
- Understanding self and others
- Communication skills
- Critical thinking
- Negotiation skills
- Financial fundamentals
- Ethics
- Sustainability
- People skills
- Innovation and entrepreneurship
- Project management
- Globalisation
- Change management
Attendance at the induction and all modules over the three years is compulsory.
