Out for Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that provides mentoring and networking opportunities for aspiring LGBTIQ professionals.
It's mentoring program currently caters to students in New South Wales and Victoria aspiring to pursue a career in a broad range of professional industries, including but not limited to business, law, management consulting, professional services, financial services, marketing, communications, media, technology and government.
The program aims to equip LGBTIQ students with the tools to set personal and professional goals and a network of mentors to assist them to achieve those goals. Students are matched with professionals based on their industry interests and on the goals identified in their application form. Mentors advise about working in professional industries in general and as an LGBTIQ person in particular.
The mentor program is designed around a commitment of one year and mentors are encouraged to connect with mentees, either by phone or in person, at least every quarter. Associated networking and community events provide a convenient forum for mentors and mentees to touch base with each other and meet other members of the Out for Australia network.
Working with principal sponsor Baker & McKenzie, along with industry partners Commonwealth Bank, PwC, Google and BCG, some great mentors have been lined up for the upcoming program.
