Looking for career guidance from professionals in the field?
If you answered yes, then PACE Mentoring could be the program for you.
PACE stands for Positive Action towards Career Engagement - take action now by applying for the Autumn 2015 program commencing just after Easter.
About the program
Australian Network on Disability (AND) has a vibrant and dynamic mentoring program called PACE, which has been created to offer job seekers with disability the opportunity to develop their skills and confidence in a workplace setting, which can assist them in career planning and personal and professional development.
PACE recognises that job seekers with disability frequently find themselves with little or no work experience and may not be fully aware of the skills and attributes they can offer an organisation. This can add to the difficulties they encounter as they try to enter their chosen career. PACE aims to assist mentees to become 'job-ready' and reduce some of these hurdles.
The mentee commitment requirement for participation in the program is to meet with a mentor up to eight times over a 12 week period. Through these meetings, the mentor and mentee will set goals and intended outcomes, and discuss experiences, skills and career pathways. Other activities may include:
- Reviewing resumes and cover letters
- Mock interviews
- Workplace site visits
- Networking with other professionals
- Discussing workplace adjustments
Successful applicants will be matched with a mentor; a manager from one of AND’s 2015 participating organisations, which include ANZ, Cummins, Department of Immigration, IBM, Legal Aid, Westpac and others.
The Autumn 2015 program runs April to July, so applicants would need to be able to make themselves available for meetings and other activities with their mentor during that period (or, alternatively, consider applying for the Spring Program later in the year).
How to apply
Applications for the Autumn 2015 program should be submitted by 13 March to ensure consideration.
