BA Paper is an annual competition organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Business Students, in association with a range of sponsor partners. The competition aims to foster the flow of creative ideas between academic and business fields and recognise the high quality work of business undergraduates. With a 28 year history, BA Paper is one of Asia's leading - and longest running - inter-university and international business plan writing competitions.
Through the competition, participants are given opportunities to:
- equip themselves in a training session
- mingle with business leaders at different events
- be inspired by entrepreneurs and/or executives
- obtain an internship
- present their business ideas to experienced business elites and scholars
- interact with talented business undergraduates from other universities
Under this year's theme: The Market In Between, participants will choose a company and help them create a market niche that lies between two categories of existing products or services. The business idea put forward must complement the company’s existing industry, whilst having its own unique selling point, target market and positioning. Participants will be required to write a thorough business plan to propose how the product or service will succeed.
Entry to the competition involves an initial application (in October 2014). The first round of the competition includes submission of an Executive Summary for internal assessment, completion of the BAT (Bloomberg Assessment Test) and a promotion challenge. Shortlisted entrants will then advance to the Semi-Final (in January 2015) and the best global team will be granted a subsidy to attend the Grand Final in Hong Kong (in January 2015).
