The Victorian Government recognises that overseas-qualified professionals and skilled migrants often find it difficult to access Victorian job markets. To overcome this challenge, it has developed the Overseas Skills Registry, a free service.
The main objective of this website is to help to connect skilled, overseas-qualified workers with Victorian employers recruiting for skilled occupations that are in demand in Victoria. (The registry is currently limited to two groups of workers: state-nominated skilled migrants and international student graduates, but it will soon open to all other overseas-qualified professionals and tradespeople.)
Users of the Overseas Skills Registry can create an online profile of their professional skills. Victorian employers can view these profiles and contact workers who have the expertise they are looking for. All skilled workers on the registry need to be living in Victoria, have a work visa and either an Australian skills assessment or Australian qualifications.
