Do you have what it takes to make it in the world of financial planning? The AMP University Challenge will help you find out!

The Challenge is open to Australian residents who are full-time or part-time university students, except for those that are already working as a financial planner*. This is a unique opportunity to combine your technical knowledge with your communication skills in a real-world scenario.

How does it work?

A case study scenario is sent to you and you are tasked with creating a discussion paper outlining your recommended strategies for the client. (Discussion papers must be submitted by 5pm AEST, Monday 9 September.)

A panel of industry experts then judges the papers and the individuals or teams that submitted the top five entries will participate in finals day in Sydney on Friday 11 October. (Finalists who live more than 200km away will be flown to Sydney for the finals, with one night's accommodation included.)

Rewards

In addition to putting your skills to the test, there are prizes available and every student who submits a discussion paper will be awarded a certificate of participation to include in their CV.

Finalists will have the opportunity to win the following:

  • Prize money - Up to $5,000 for the winning team
  • Community - Student membership of the Financial Planning Association (FPA)
  • Knowledge - A CCH book pack and subscriptions to IFA Magazine and Money Management
  • Development - An invitation to attend the 2013 FPA Congress in Sydney and the 2014 AMP Planner Conference in Melbourne
