Jobs Bonuses of $1000 will be available each financial year for up to 2500 Australian employers who employ an eligible mature age job seeker for at least 13 weeks. Besides the wealth of skills, experience and diversity mature-age candidates can bring to the workforce, a Jobs Bonus is just another good reason for employers to hire them!

Job Services Australia will determine eligibility and refer suitable mature-age candidates to employers. In addition, they will assess employers and their vacancies, and provide advice on their suitability for a Jobs Bonus.

For employers to qualify for the Jobs Bonus, their mature-age employees must meet eligibility criteria which include:

  • they must be 50 years of age or older when they start work
  • they must be unemployed and registered with a Job Services Australia provider to receive either Stream 1 (Limited), Stream 1 or Stream 2 services
  • they must have commenced employment on or after 1 July 2012
  • they must be employed as an ongoing employee, either full-time or part-time for a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • they must be employed under legal industrial agreements and receive a weekly award based wage
