About the symposium
Humanitarian Affairs, a member of the World Association of Non-governmental Organisations and the World Alliance for Citizen Participation, presents the 4th annual University Leadership Symposium, to be held in Manila, The Philippines, from 1 to 7 August 2013.
The symposium is an international humanitarian leadership programme where university students can learn about, explore and address global concerns about the plight of those suffering in extreme poverty. It is endorsed by the United Nations Department of Social Affairs and the United Nations Youth Unit in New York.
This year's event will bring together over 1,000 students from leading universities worldwide to discuss issues pertaining to humanitarian matters and sustainable development. The program will also include training sessions on leadership and communication, project management and implementation, lectures from expert humanitarians such as Robin Lim (CNN Hero of the Year, 2011) and Australia’s Geraldine Cox (Founder of Sunrise Children’s Village, Cambodia), as well as hands-on service learning activities at a local community.
